North Korea. I live with constant reminders that this dictatorship lies only a few miles north of me. Every day I take the number 7 bus north towards my school and pass under a tank trap- a concrete structure over the road (like a bridge) that is brimming with explosives, ready to explode and destroy the road so that tanks may not pass. My school is not far from a center for North Korean refugees. North Korea seems so close, I can almost touch it. Almost. But being at the DMZ, looking through these binoculars at the worlds tallest flag pole, I felt that no one from the west will ever be able to touch North Korea. This photo says what I am feeling. South Korea is real & solid, we watch from the South and hope something spectacular will happen; North Korea is faint, disappearing, and all pomp and circumstance but there is no real substance. Will North Korea and South Korea ever reunite? There certainly are enough cell phones in South Korea to supply the demand of North Koreans...
